Sheffield, England quartet, The Crookes, love the holidays. And to celebrate, they have released a new holiday single, "You Bring The Show", today via Modern Outsider/Anywhere Records, and premiered a video via The Line Of Best Fit.
The Crookes kicked off 2016 with the release of their fourth full-length album, Lucky Ones, touring the U.S. twice, performing at SXSW, Treefort Festival, supporting Catfish and the Bottlemen throughout the UK, along with multiple festival dates across Europe. They cap the year with a series of holiday performances in the UK, December 12 thru 17, in Nottingham, Bristol, London, Newcastle, Leeds and at home, in Sheffield.
The Crookes' George Waite (vocals/bass guitar), Daniel Hopewell (lyrics/guitar), Tom Dakin (guitar), and Adam Crofts (drums), say the set list will be quite different to their usual shows, complete with a Christmas tree and merriment aplenty.
"The innocence and excitement of Christmas when you're young is something far more magical than when you're in your twenties," says Hopewell. "One of my favorite Christmas songs ever is Low's "Just Like Christmas". It has this amazing line in that goes: "The beds were small but we felt so young." That line has always got me. Tom had come up with this melody that seemed inherently sentimental, so it made sense to write a song about that feeling - of perhaps putting aside adult cynicism and just embracing it like you did as a child," he says.
